HOUSTON (AP) Reginal Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and second-seeded Alcorn State ran away from No. 3 seed Southern University 81-59 in Friday night's Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal.

The Braves (18-13) play top-seeded Texas Southern (22-11) in Saturday's championship, but are ineligible for NCAA Tournament play this year because of academic progress rate problems.

A.J. Mosby scored 15, Marquis Vance had 14 with 12 rebounds, Maurice Howard 13 points, and the Braves outrebounded the Jaguars 47-38 and outscored them 36-28 in the paint.

After seven lead changes, Johnson's 3-pointer put the Braves up for good, 27-25 and sparked a 13-3 run. Alcorn State led 43-33 at halftime behind Johnson's 14 points and 12 from Mosby.

Vance's jumper capped a 15-3 run and the Braves led 58-38 early in the second half and were up by as many as 25.

Shawn Prudhomme scored 16 for Southern (15-18).
