No. 1 Duke 67, Davidson 50: Duke (13-0) scored the first 12 points of the second half to break a 29-29 tie on its way to a win over Davidson (7-6) in Charlotte. The Blue Devils held the Wildcats to 30 percent shooting, and Davidson also made just 4 of 21 from three. F Ryan Kelly led Duke with 18 points and seven rebounds and PG Quinn Cook added 15 points. Duke won despite subpar performances from C Mason Plumlee and G Seth Curry. Plumlee had a season-low 10 points and six turnovers. Curry had six points on 3-for-11 shooting. Davidson F Jake Cohen had a game-high 19 points.

Wake Forest 66, Xavier 59: Wake Forest (7-5) fell behind 49-48 with 6:58 to play but went on a 12-0 run over the next 4:24 to push past Xavier (7-6) in the Skip Prosser Classic, giving Demon Deacons coach Jeff Bzdelik arguably his biggest win since he’s been in Winston-Salem. F Travis McKie had 19 points and eight rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end. Freshman Codi Miller-McIntyre had 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting, and G C.J. Harris had 15 points for Wake. F Travis Taylor had 18 points to lead Xavier, but he only scored two points in the second half.

Georgia Tech 74, Chattanooga 58: Georgia Tech (10-2) dominated the boards to win its sixth game in a row with a victory over Chattanooga (5-9) in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Mocs, 42-25, and held a 21-5 advantage in second-chance points. Freshman G Marcus Georges-Hunt led Georgia Tech with 16 points while freshman post player Robert Carter, Jr. added 13 points and 12 rebounds. Georgia Tech senior PG Mfon Udofia had 14 points and no turnovers in 32 minutes. Farad Cobb and Z Mason each had 14 points for Chattanooga.

Auburn 78, Florida State 72: Florida State (8-5) added another bad nonconference loss to its resume Wednesday night, losing at Auburn (6-7). The Seminoles shot 48.3 percent from the field compared to just 34.9 percent for the Tigers. However, Auburn shot 26 more free throws than Florida State, outscoring the Seminoles 28-7 from the line. G Michael Snaer had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Seminoles, and G Terry Whisnant had a career-high 16 points. G Frankie Sullivan had 24 points for Auburn, making nine of his 11 free throw attempts.

Miami 76, La Salle 59: Miami (9-3) overcame an 11-point first half deficit to pick up a solid home win over La Salle (9-3). The Hurricanes outscored the Explorers 46-23 in the second half. Miami’s starting backcourt of Shane Larkin, Durand Scott and Trey McKinney-Jones combined to score 50 points. F Kenny Kadji had 14 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. La Salle was led by G Tyrone Garland, who had 20 points off the bench. Garland transferred in from Virginia Tech after the first semester last season.

Star of the night: McKie, Wake Forest. McKie led Wake Forest with 19 points and eight rebounds in his team's 66-59 win, and he made arguably the biggest play of the game. Leading 50-49, Wake Forest F Devin Thomas stepped to the line for two free throws. Thomas missed both attempts, but McKie was there to tip in the second free throw to put the Demon Deacons up 52-49. Wake Forest scored eight straight points from there to build its lead to 60-49 and pick up its biggest win of the season.

Inside the box score -- 3 numbers worth a second look

2 -- Duke gave up just two offensive rebounds in the second half against Davidson after giving up 10 in the first. The Blue Devils defended much better in the second half and did a much better job on the glass to pull away from Davidson.

165 -- With its loss at Auburn, Florida State now has three nonconference losses against teams rated No. 165 or lower in the CBSSports.com RPI heading into Wednesday. The Seminoles have losses to South Alabama (253), Mercer (165), and Auburn (252).

20 -- Kadji and F Julian Gamble combined to score 20 points and grab 20 rebounds in Miami’s win over La Salle. Both of those players will have to produce in C Reggie Johnson’s absence. Johnson is out 6-8 weeks with a broken left thumb.

Wednesday's quote of the day: Duke’s Kelly on Plumlee’s impact despite struggling Wednesday, according to Laura Keeley of the News & Observer: “Even if (Plumlee) isn’t getting as many shots or making as many shots, he does so much for our offense. There’s so much focus on him, it opens up things for other people.”
