Baylor has lost a couple of reserve guards in the last week, but Scott Drew and his staff are expected to fill the void by adding Royce O'Neale, a Texas native who averaged 11.2 points and 5.5 rebounds this past season for the University of Denver as a sophomore and could wind up being allowed to play this season for the Bears.
A source told CBSSports.com that O'Neale is expected to commit to Baylor on Thursday.
O'Neale is a 6-foot-5 guard who left Denver after this past season. He wanted to get closer to his home in Killeen, Texas, to be able to help his ailing grandfather. Killeen is about an hour from Waco.
Both Deuce Bello and L.J. Rose, a couple of wings, left the program. Bello is an ultra-athletic guard who played about 10 minutes in each of his two seasons in Waco while the 6-foot-3 Rose averaged 7.5 minutes as a freshman this past year.
The Bears lose Pierre Jackson but return a couple of talented guys on the frontline in Isaiah Austin and Cory Jefferson. They also bring back Brady Heslip and will also bring on former UCLA signee Al Freeman.
