Opening Night for college basketball delivered a fun game between big brands that went to overtime and provided a memorable start to the season.
Final score: Indiana 103, Kansas 99.
The updated CBS Sports Top 25 (and one) reflects that result.
James Blackmon scored 26 points for the Hoosiers, who are now fourth in these rankings. Kansas fell to No. 5. And Indiana's rise caused Xavier, North Carolina, Oregon and Virginia to drop one spot each, through no fault of their own. Earlier in the night, Arizona beat Michigan State (even though Allonzo Trier didn't play) thanks to a last-second, coast-to-coast bank shot from Kadeem Allen. So both games of the Armed Forces Classic in Hawaii were upsets that caused movement in the Top 25 (and one).
Not bad for a Friday night.
Meantime, back here in the continental United States, UConn lost to Wagner at home, which caused the Huskies to drop completely out of the Top 25 (and one) and opened the door for Cincinnati's entrance. So congrats to Mick Cronin's program, which benefitted from a rough outing from a fellow AAC school.
