ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) Caleb Fields scored 22 points as second-seeded Fairfield's 65-61 victory over Marist on Friday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals.
The Stags will play fifth-seeded Saint Peter's, which upset top-seeded Quinnipiac in its semifinal, in Saturday's championship game.
Fields shot 8 for 18 (3 for 9 from 3-point range) and 3 of 6 from the free-throw line for the Stags (22-11). Jalen Leach added 13 points while shooting 4 for 10 (0 for 5 from 3-point range) and 5 of 7 from the free-throw line while he also had five rebounds. Peyton Smith shot 3 of 6 from the field and 3 for 3 from the line to finish with nine points.
Javon Cooley led the Red Foxes (18-13) in scoring, finishing with 14 points and two blocks. Max Allen added 12 points for Marist. Jadin Collins had 10 points and four assists.
Fields scored 10 points in the first half and Fairfield went into halftime trailing 32-30. Fairfield used an 11-0 second-half run to come back from a nine-point deficit and take the lead at 59-57 with 4:34 left in the half before finishing off the victory. Leach scored 13 second-half points.
