Tim Miles has already turned around Nebraska when it comes to wins and losses, leading the Cornhuskers to the NCAA Tournament last season.
He continues to make an impact on the recruiting trail, as well.
On Monday morning, Miles and Nebraska landed a commitment from Ed Morrow, a 6-foot-7 forward from Chicago.
Morrow is a player that Miles prioritized over the summer, watching him on the AAU circuit throughout July. The feeling seemed mutual, as Morrow took multiple unofficial visits to Lincoln. He officially visited Nebraska over the weekend, and that trip sealed the deal for the Cornhuskers.
The other school to which Morrow took an official visit was Iowa earlier this month.
Morrow is the third commitment for Nebraska in the class of 2015, joining four-star guard Glynn Watson and forward Michael Jacobson. Watson is another Illinois native, and he’s an immediate impact prospect -- exactly the sort of player the Cornhuskers were having trouble landing before Miles changed the buzz around the program. That group doesn’t include Andrew White, a transfer from Kansas who should be able to boost the offensive capability of the Cornhuskers when he’s eligible in the 2015-16 season.
Morrow was ranked No. 101 in the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2015. He averaged 12.6 points and 6.8 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit with Mac Irvin Fire.
Dayton nabs point guard
Back in August, there was talk that Baltimore native John Crosby could end up at Maryland for the 2014-15 season. He took a visit to College Park but ended up doing a post-graduate season at New Hampton Prep (N.H.) as a member of the class of 2015.
That decision has paid off for Dayton, as the Flyers picked up a commitment from Crosby on Monday morning, sources told CBSSports.com.
Crosby, a quick 6-foot-3 point guard, is a quality acquisition for Dayton. With Oakland transfer Ryan Bass and senior Jordan Sibert moving on after the upcoming season, Archie Miller needed some perimeter reinforcements. Sophomores Dayshon “Scoochie” Smith and Kyle Davis will be back, as will incoming freshman Darrell Davis, but Crosby will provide depth right off the bat.
Dayton is now wrapping things up for the class of 2015. Crosby is the fourth commitment for Dayton, with Sam Miller, Xeyrius Williams and Ryan Mikesell rounding out the group. There is a chance the Flyers make a move for a big in the spring, but for now, that’s it in terms of scholarships.
Expect Dayton to continue building off its surprising Elite Eight run on the recruiting trail.
