What to Know
If the oddsmakers' predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for Arkansas. They will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the UTSA Roadrunners at 2:00 p.m. ET at Bud Walton Arena. The timing is sure in the Razorbacks' favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Roadrunners have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Arkansas is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 10th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Miami out 76-73.
Arkansas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Boogie Fland, who had 18 points along with six assists. Fland had some trouble finding his footing against Illinois last Thursday, so this was a nice turnaround. Another player making a difference was D.J. Wagner, who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, UTSA fought the good fight in their overtime match against Saint Mary's on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 82-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gaels.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Marcus Millender, who scored 21 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Primo Spears was another key player, earning 24 points.
Arkansas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for UTSA, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Arkansas just can't miss this season, having drained 49.8% of their field goals per game. It's a different story for UTSA, though, as they've only made 39.8% of their field goals this season. Given Arkansas' sizable advantage in that area, UTSA will need to find a way to close that gap.
Arkansas beat UTSA 79-67 when the teams last played back in December of 2018. Does Arkansas have another victory up their sleeve, or will UTSA turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
