Can Michigan State end its Big Ten skid and get back into the NCAA Tournament picture?

Michigan State's hopes to make its 20th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance has gone from possible to improbable in a span of 10 days. The Spartans, who have dropped three straight, including four of their last five, are in dire need of a win to reverse their fortunes and make a run toward the tourney.

That's easier said than done. Winning at home under Tom Izzo has been a staple of the program's success, yet the team has lost two games at the Breslin Center that it would love to have another whack at.

Another chance comes on Sunday, as the Spartans welcome in rival Michigan. Here's how you can catch the game on TV or streaming online, along with a scouting report, some key matchups to watch and an pick against the spread.

Scouting report

The team leader in scoring and rebounding, star freshman Miles Bridges is doing it all for Michigan State. He's averaging 16.4 points and 8.1 rebounds, along with close to 2 blocks per game. All while shooting 42.4 percent from the 3-point line. If you want to slow the Spartans, it has to start with Bridges.

For Michigan, a number of players make large contributions in more of a committee approach for John Beilein. Four players average double-figures in scoring, lead by senior 6-foot-6 wing Zak Irvin at 14.5 points per game. Additionally, Irvin is an elite defender who can guard the perimeter and bang down low with his long, athletic frame. He's averaging 18.6 points over the last three games.

Matchups to watch

Michigan State may be a more athletic team, but the Wolverines have a pretty definitive size advantage in this one. Two seven-footers, D.J. Wilson and Moritz Wagner, may be a matchup problem against the 6-foot-7 Bridges and 6-foot-8 Nick Ward for MSU.

For Michigan, the worst offensive rebounding teams in the Big Ten according to KenPom, this matchup could reverse those fortunes. Keep an eye on the Wolverines' ability to scrap for second-chances on the offensive glass which could lead to some easy buckets around the rim.
