What to Know

The Wichita State Shockers' homestand will continue as they prepare to take on the Monmouth Hawks at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers will be strutting in after a victory while the Hawks will be stumbling in from a loss.

Last Thursday, Wichita State earned a 79-73 win over N. Iowa. The over/under was set at 151.5 points, so nice work oddsmakers; you were right on the money.

Corey Washington and Justin Hill were among the main playmakers for Wichita State as the former posted 19 points plus six rebounds and the latter had 11 points plus three steals.

Wichita State smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Monmouth's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost to Rutgers on the road by a decisive 98-81 margin. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Monmouth's loss came about despite a quality game from Abdi Bashir Jr., who went 10 for 17 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points. What's more, Bashir Jr. also posted a 47.8% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January. Madison Durr was another key player, earning 17 points in addition to three steals.

Wichita State's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Monmouth, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
