NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Marcus Dockery had 19 points as fourth-seeded Howard rallied to upset top-seeded Norfolk State 80-74 in Friday night's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference semifinals on Friday night.
The Bison, who trailed 37-31 at the break and trailed 48-41 with under 15 minutes to play, will play for the MEAC tournament title Saturday.
Dockery went 6 of 8 from the field (5 for 6 from 3-point range) for the Bison (17-16). Bryce Harris scored 16 points while going 5 of 11 and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line and added six rebounds. Isiah Warfield shot 4 of 5 from the field, including 3 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line to finish with 15 points.
The Spartans (22-11) were led in scoring by Allen Betrand, who finished with 16 points. Jamarii Thomas added 14 points, four assists and four steals for Norfolk State. Christian Ings also had 11 points, five assists and two steals.
Seth Towns scored 10 points in the first half and Howard went into halftime trailing 37-31. After trailing by eight points in the second half, Howard went on a 7-0 run to narrow the score to 39-38 with 17:04 remaining in the half before finishing off the victory. Warfield scored 12 second-half points.
