After seeing former targets go elsewhere the past couple weeks, Michigan State needed a guard in the class of 2015. And the Spartans made their move on Thursday morning.

Four-star guard Matt McQuaid has committed to Michigan State, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com.

McQuaid, a former SMU commit, is one of the best shooters in the class. He has deep range on his outside shot and is capable of knocking down five or six or seven in a row. He doesn't need a ton of room to get off his shot and has plenty of confidence in his release. The 6-foot-4 Duncanville (Texas) product averaged 15.6 points and made 45.1 percent of his 3-point attempts during the Nike EYBL circuit.

McQuaid originally pledged to SMU back in May but decided to re-open his recruitment a couple of months later in July. He took official visits to both Creighton and Michigan Statewith his trip to East Lansing last weekend winning him over.

He is the third member of Michigan State's 2015 class, joining three-star shooting guard Kyle Ahrens and five-star power forward Deyonta Davis. The biggest targets remaining for the Spartans include five-star center Caleb Swanigan and five-star power forward Henry Ellenson, althought he latter could be a Marquette lean at this point.
