The Big Ten has eight games on tap for Saturday and one on Sunday after taking Thursday and Friday off. Here are five key numbers to focus on during the action this weekend.
1. 3: Undefeated teams in the Big Ten: No. 1 Indiana (9-0), No. 3 Michigan (10-0) and No. 10 Illinois (11-0). On Saturday, the Hoosiers play Butler (7-2) in Indianapolis and the Wolverines face West Virginia (4-4) in Brooklyn, NY. The Fighting Illini host Eastern Kentucky (9-0) on Sunday. There are 14 undefeated teams across the country.
2. 73.1: Average points per game for Big Ten teams this season, the best mark of any league in the country. The conference’s plus-13.2 points per game margin also leads the nation.
3. 5: Games scoring at least 20 points for Illinois G Brandon Paul (19 points per game) this season. Ohio State’s Deshaun Thomas (20.8 ppg) is second with three such games.
4. 3: Penn State players in the top six in the Big Ten in average minutes played. G D.J. Newbill is second in the league at 35.6 minutes per game, followed by No. 4 G Jermaine Marshall (34.9 mpg) and No. 6 F Ross Travis (34.3 mpg).
5. 55: Made free throws for Iowa F Aaron White, the most in the Big Ten. Paul is second with 48 converted charity tosses.
