When's the last time a player as famous as Grayson Allen returned to college basketball?
Joakim Noah in 2006?
Tyler Hansbrough in 2008?
Matt Norlander and I discussed that at the top of this episode of the Eye on College Basketball podcast and agreed that, either way, Allen's return to Duke is good for both the Blue Devils and college basketball in general. Truth is, one of the biggest issues facing this sport is the rapid turnover of its familiar faces and names. The best players are typically gone shortly after they establish themselves as the best, which makes college basketball difficult to follow for casual fans. So, if nothing else, the sport will have one recognizable face next season. That's the byproduct of Allen's decision to delay entry into the NBA Draft and play his senior year.
