The college hoops corruption case that has ensnared multiple programs and both current and former players came to a head on Friday when Yahoo Sports published a revealing report detailing the expenditures of former NBA agent Andy Miller.
Among those included in the documents providing detail of which players or their representatives have accepted loans is San Diego State star Malik Pope, the leading scorer for the Aztecs this season. Pope is accused of accepting a $1,400 loan in the report, and as a result, the university announced it has suspended him as they investigate the matter.
Breaking: SDSU has suspended Malik Pope as it investigates alleged $1400 loan from agent. @Aztec_MBB had won 3 straight and was on a roll. Now won't have best player for foreseeable future.

Pope did not travel with the team for Saturday's game vs. San Jose State, and a timeline for his return -- if he is cleared in the probe -- is unclear at this time.
Pope is averaging a team-high 12.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season for the Aztecs. He is the first, but presumably not the last, player to be suspended among those named in the Yahoo Sports report.
