Back in July, Minnesota transfer Wally Ellenson announced he was heading to Marquette. On the surface, it wasn't a big deal -- Ellenson had averaged 2.0 points in 18 games with the Golden Gophers.
But on the recruiting trail, it was a major talking point. Ellenson was the older brother of elite 2015 prospect Henry Ellenson -- and suddenly, Marquette was considered to be the favorite for his services.
And on Thursday morning, Ellenson followed in his brother's footsteps, committing to new coach Steve Wojciechowski and the Golden Eagles.
Ellenson chose Marquette over Michigan State and Kentucky.
Ranked No. 10 in the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2015, the 6-foot-10 Ellenson was one of the biggest risers and most improved players over the last year or so. He's extremely skilled, and poses a matchup problem for defenses due to his ability to score inside or facing up from the perimeter. He averaged 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit with Playground Elite.
Ellenson joins four-star prospects Haanif Cheatham, Nick Noskowiak and Matt Heldt in Marquette's 2015 class. With Ellenson now in the fold, Wojciechowski has a top-five class in the country.
