Friday's games
Ole Miss vs. Oral Roberts (3 p.m., CBS Sports Network): Ole Miss has two transfers in Deandre Burnette and Cullen Neal who have the ability to light it up. Oral Roberts has a young and relatively inexperienced team, but the backcourt matchup here with veteran guards Aaron Anderson and Aaron Young should present a formidable challenge for Ole Miss in the Paradise Jam.
Montana vs. NC State (6 p.m., CBS Sports Network): NC State has one of the best freshmen in the country in Dennis Smith Jr., a point guard who has the ability to fill the box score as a scorer and distributor. Wyoming has a pretty good freshman itself in Sayeed Pridgett, who the Cowboys will rely on for scoring. Oretty good freshman-on-freshman matchup here in another Paradise Jam game.
Georgia State at No. 15 Purdue (7 p.m., Big Ten Network): Purdue is coming off a close loss to No. 3 Villanova, taking the defending national champ to the brink earlier this week. It plays host to Georgia State and should be in line to get back on track behind sophomore star Caleb Swanigan, a guy with serious NBA potential.
Monmouth at No. 18 Syracuse (7 p.m., ACC Network): If you haven't gotten to watch Syracuse big man Tyler Lydon, do yourself a favor and tune in. He's an athletic big who can run the floor and plays above the rim. Syracuse should roll over Monmouth.
Siena at No. 7 Kansas (8 p.m., ESPN3): Coming off a big win over No. 1 Duke at Madison Square Garden, Kansas has a tune-up game against Siena. Jayhawks freshman Josh Jackson had a coming out party against Duke; his continued development is one of the country's most interesting storylines to watch.
Bryant at No. 14 Gonzaga (8:30 p.m., ESPN3): Bryant isn't a well-recognized name, but it is no slouch and could give Gonzaga a good game. It has been to the postseason four of the last five seasons, and is looking for a signature win on its resume. Nisre Zouzoua is a high-level guard who Gonzaga will need to limit. Gonzaga's point guard Nigel Williams-Goss is athletic and can push the pace. He'll be a handful for Bryant.
Sacred Heart at No. 10 Arizona (10 p.m., Pac-12 Network): Despite losing an expected key contributor in Ray Smith before the season and being without their best player, Allonzo Trier, Sean Miller's Wildcat squad is 2-0. Miller has a rising freshman, Kobi Simmons, who could be the spark Arizona needs as it continues its season without Trier.
Saturday's games
Penn State vs. No. 1 Duke (12:30 p.m., ESPN): Penn State has Julian Moore and Josh Reaves, two premier shot blockers who are underrated. Duke is still without three of its top freshmen due to injury, which makes the Blue Devils vulnerable even with the talent they still put on the floor. This game is part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-off and will be played at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
No. 21 Rhode Island vs. No. 24 Cincinnati (3 p.m., ESPN3): You may be thinking ... Rhode Island? Yes, Rhode Island! The Rams have a premium scorer in E.C. Matthews and the Bearcats are facing their first real test of the season. Both teams have lead their respective conference in defensive scoring the past two seasons, so it should be a fun and gritty matchup in another game at the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-off.
Louisiana Tech at Nebraska (8 p.m., ESPN3): Nebraska has a veteran backcourt with Tai Webster and Glynn Watson Jr. who could end up being the leading scorers for the Cornhuskers this year. Miami transfer Omar Sherman should help lessen the blow for Louisiana Tech losing Alex Hamilton.
