West Virginia basketball was controversially left out of the NCAA Tournament bracket and then saw head coach Darian DeVries bolt for Indiana after just one season. The Mountaineers had one of the final remaining jobs open before hiring Ross Hodge away from North Texas on Wednesday. The coaching change means every remaining player on the West Virginia basketball roster can enter the college basketball transfer portal, so the 2025-26 West Virginia basketball lineup could look substantially different. If you love the Mountaineers, or just want to know who will call the shots for West Virginia basketball in the future, be sure to see what the proven team of insiders are saying at EerSports, the 247Sports affiliate that covers West Virginia.

Top West Virginia basketball lineup updates
As of Wednesday evening, only six WVU scholarship players are expected to return to Morgantown. Leading scorer Javon Small is out of eligibility, second-leading scorer Tucker DeVries, the son of Darian DeVries, is expected to follow his dad to Indiana and third-leading scorer Amani Hansberry has entered the portal as well.
In total, five players have entered the portal and three recruits have asked out of their National Letter of Intent.
With Hodge just hired on Wednesday, he hasn't had much time to spell out a plan for incoming talent. Some players could potentially follow him from North Texas, however, including junior forward Brenen Lorient, who was UNT's second-leading scorer last season with 11.9 points per game.
