Matt Thomas: Heading to Greece
Thomas agreed Monday on a contract with Greek club Panathinaikos, Dimitris Minaretzis of Eurohoops.net reports.
The 28-year-old Thomas has been available on the open market since July, after the Bulls declined his $2.09 million qualifying offer following the 2021-22 season. After weighing his options, Thomas is opting to return to Europe, where he spent the first two years of his professional career before making the move to the NBA in 2019-20. In his third NBA season in 2021-22, Thomas appeared in 40 games for Chicago and averaged 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 11.5 minutes per contest.

Thomas (lower leg) won't be available Sunday for Game 1 of the Bulls' first-round series with the Bucks, Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Thomas was listed as questionable on the NBA's official injury report heading into the day, but he'll remain sidelined as the Bulls begin postseason play. Even if he had been healthy for the series opener with Milwaukee, Thomas was unlikely to be included in head coach Billy Donovan's rotation. Thomas finished the regular season with averages of 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers in 11.5 minutes per game while shooting 38.5 percent from downtown over his 40 appearances for Chicago.

Bulls' Matt Thomas: Season-high 34 minutes off bench
Thomas amassed five points (2-10 FG, 1-7 3Pt), six rebounds and one assist over 34 minutes during Sunday's 119-108 loss to the 76ers.
With Zach LaVine (back) and Coby White (groin) sidelined, Thomas played a season-high 34 minutes off the bench, but the 38.8 percent three-point shooter struggled to find the bottom of the net. As long as the aforementioned guards remain sidelined, Thomas figures to garner a major role in Billy Donovan's rotation, though it's unlikely he'll be able to sustain consistent fantasy production.

Thomas finished Friday's 138-96 loss to the Warriors with six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 18 minutes.
Thomas has had fairly minimal playing time recently, but he saw an uptick in minutes during Friday's blowout loss since Zach LaVine (knee) exited the game early. Bulls' Matt Thomas: Appears in first game since Dec. 6
Thomas (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) provided five points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes off the bench Sunday in the Bulls' 113-105 win over the Pacers.
Among the many Bulls who entered the health and safety protocols this month, Thomas was inactive for the longest period of time. He was first placed in the protocols Dec. 8 and wasn't fully cleared until more than two weeks later. After regaining conditioning in practice, Thomas made a successful return to action Sunday while tying his season high in minutes. Thomas hasn't been a regular member of the rotation when Chicago is at full strength, so he'll be a prime candidate to lose minutes as soon as the Bulls get one of Derrick Jones (hamstring), Alex Caruso (foot) or Lonzo Ball (health and safety protocols) back in the fold.
