  • Magic's Yante Maten: Joins Magic summer team

Maten will play for the Magic's Summer League team, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Maten will reenter the NBA with the Magic after initially playing for the Heat on a two-way contract during the 2018 season. During the 2020 season, the forward played for the Celtics G League team and logged a season-high of 34 points.

  • Yante Maten: Starts, scores 23 in loss

Maten generated 23 points (9-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and four steals over 30 minutes in Wednesday's 113-92 loss at Delaware.

For the first time this season, the Red Claws have lost three games in a row. One cannot blame Maten, who drew the start and led the team in points and was second in rebounds. Coach Darren Erman tried to shake things up by starting Maten and bringing Tacko Fall off the bench. Both centers double-doubled, but the Claws still struggled to score in both the second (12 points) and third (19 points) quarters. Crustacean Nation will try to turn things around at home Friday against the tough Raptors 905.

  • Yante Maten: Scores 30 in loss

Maten generated 30 points (12-21 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 12 rebounds and three steals in Saturday's 116-109 road loss to Raptors 905.

The Red Claws trailed for most of Saturday's match-up. Maten was one a few Claws with strong shooting numbers as the 905 held Maine to only 40 percent shooting from the field. Maine has no time to lick their wounds as they quickly travel to New York state for Sunday's afternoon matinee with the Westchester Knicks.

  • Yante Maten: Scores 34 in loss

Maten produced 34 points (11-18 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 15 rebounds and two blocked shots during Saturday's 134-118 loss at Wisconsin.

Tacko Fall drew the start at center, but when the Claws got behind early, Maine went with a lot of "small ball" with Maten at the five. Maten's hot hand unfortunately wasn't enough as the Herd cruised to victory and maintained their first place position in the G League Eastern Conference. Maten's 34 points were a season high. Maten has had four games with 15 or more boards.

  • Yante Maten: Snags ninth double-double in win

Maten delivered 27 points (13-19 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and one steal in Thursday's 107-103 home win over Salt Lake City.

Maten once again led the Red Claws in scoring and posted his ninth double-double of the season. Despite Tacko Fall's presence, Maten is still Maine's starting center and has recently become the focal point of Crustacean Nation's offense. Maten's 19 field-goal attempts by far led the Claws, who have won seven in a row. Maine hopes to keep the good news coming Friday at Long Island.

  • Yante Maten: Leads Claws to victory

Maten posted 22 points (10-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals in Saturday's 100-93 home victory over the Drive.

Maten's 22 points led Crustacean Nation. The 6-foot-7 big man continues to start at center despite the return of Tacko Fall from the parent club. Through 19 games, the second-year G Leaguer is averaging 18.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per contest. The Red Claws now travel to Erie for Tuesday's matchup with the Bayhawks.

  • Yante Maten: Leads Claws with 29 points

Maten posted 29 points (12-18 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds and one assist in Friday's 117-116 loss at Capital City.

Maten was efficient over his 30 minutes of run. The Red Claws were leading most of the way, but couldn't hold off the Go-Go in the fourth quarter when they put up 35 points for the win. Maten led Crustacean Nation in scoring, but was part of a team defensive effort that could only gather two total steals. The Claws now head home for Sunday's match-up versus the SkyHawks.

  • Yante Maten: Leads Claws to victory

Maten exploded for 26 points (10-18 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 16 boards and two steals in Friday's 127-121 road win over Iowa.

The second year G Leaguer led the team in points, field goal attempts and minutes, despite a Maine roster with two Celtic two-way players (Fall and Waters) and two Celtic assignees (Langford and Edwards). Should all four Celtics stay in Maine, one assumes Maten's minutes will decline. But for one glorious night in Iowa, the undersized center caught fire and led Crustacean Nation to victory. Maten has scored 20 or more points in six of 12 games this season.

  • Yante Maten: Double-doubles, grabs five steals

Maten produced 10 points (5-15 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 0-3 FT), 15 rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks in Wednesday's 113-102 road win over the Raptor's 905.

Maten put up a rare stat line during an even more rare Wednesday matinee game. On the positive, he double-doubled and collected five swipes. On the negative, he missed all three of his free throws and all three of his shots from behind the arc. But a win is a win and Crustacean Nation is 4-0. Maten is seeing 27 minutes per game through four games.

  • Yante Maten: Double-doubles in win

Maten produced 22 points (4-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 8-10 FT). 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one blocked shot over 27 minutes in Friday's 103-100 home debut win over the Mad Ants.

Maten led Crustacean Nation in scoring and was second in rebounds behind Tacko Fall's 13 boards. The 6-foot-8 Maten also got the start at center, as coach Darren Erman continues to bring Fall in off the bench. This was a tough win for the Red Claws, who lost star rookie Romeo Langford to an ankle injury seven minutes into the contest. Maten and his Red Claw teammates stay home Sunday for an afternoon matchup versus Raptors 905.

  • Yante Maten: Scores 24 on Opening Night

Maten supplied 24 points, (7-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 20 minutes in Saturday's 148-125 opening night G League win in Delaware.

The Red Claws decided to start with a small ball lineup versus the Blue Coats, starting the 6-foot-8 Maten at center instead of the extremely tall Tacko Fall. Fall still played more minutes than Maten, but the latter second-year pro was still extremely effective during his 20-minute run. Next up for Crustacean Nation is Friday's home opener versus the Mad Ants.

  • Celtics' Yante Maten: Signs Exhibit 10 with Celtics

Maten agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Celtics on Wednesday, Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net reports.

Maten will try out for Boston's final roster, but there's a strong possibility he ends up in the G League. He's appeared in just two NBA games, totaling two points, three rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes with Miami last season.

  • Yante Maten: Cut by Miami

The Heat waived Maten on Monday.

Maten played most of the 2018-19 season on a two-way deal before having it converted into a standard NBA contract in April. The power forward appeared in only two games for Miami in his first professional season but was a standout performer at the G League level, averaging 23.5 points, 9.7 boards, 1.7 assists and 1.2 blocks in 32.7 minutes per game across 30 games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The 22-year-old should attract ample interest from other teams around the league looking to fill out their 15-man roster or either of their two-way spots.

  • Heat's Yante Maten: Big double-double in win

Maten recorded 14 points (6-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-5 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists and a block across 29 minutes in the Heat's 96-92 win over the Magic in the Las Vegas Summer League on Tuesday.

Maten turned in a big double-double after modest production in Sunday's game against the Jazz. He signed a two-year extension with Miami in April and has a good shot at making the active roster if he can keep up this high level of play.

  • Heat's Yante Maten: Gets two-year extension

Maten agreed Sunday with the Heat on a standard, two-year contract extension worth up to $3.1 million, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The deal will take effect after the season, when his one-year, two-way contract is set to expire. Maten has yet to make his NBA debut, but the Heat saw enough potential in the forward based on his G League production to bring him aboard the 15-man roster in place of Rodney McGruder, who was waived. In 30 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce this season, Maten averaged 23.5 points (on 53.8 percent shooting from the field), 9.6 boards, 1.8 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest. Maten's contract for 2020-21 will become fully guaranteed if he's on the roster for opening night during the upcoming season.

Maten spent the last 10 days with Miami, but he will now return to the G League for the Skyforce's game on Friday. He should get some valuable minutes after not appearing in any games for Miami.

  • Heat's Yante Maten: Back from G League

The Heat recalled Maten from the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce on Sunday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Maten will presumably dress for the eighth time this season at the NBA level in Monday's game against the Hawks. Despite dominating in the G League this season to the tune of 24.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, Maten is still awaiting his NBA debut. The Heat's deep rotation likely means Maten won't see minutes Monday unless the game turns into a blowout.
