Filipowski produced 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 120-112 loss to Phoenix.
Filipowski poured in a career-high 18 points, logging at least 23 minutes for the second straight game. It's been an up-and-down season for the rookie, his role seemingly changing on a nightly basis. Given what we have seen thus far from the Jazz, there is certainly a world in which they are eliminated from the postseason discussion sooner rather than earlier. Should this be the case, Filipowski's minutes could increase on a more consistent basis.

Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Drops out of rotation
Filipowski played four minutes in Thursday's 123-100 loss to the Bucks, scoring zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and recording no other statistics during his time on the court.
Filipowski had started each of the last three games while averaging 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.3 minutes, but he fell out of the Utah rotation Thursday while Lauri Markkanen (back) made his return to the lineup. The rookie second-round pick didn't check into the game until 4:13 remained in the fourth quarter, when the game was effectively over while the Bucks sat on a 20-point lead. Jazz head coach Will Hardy went with John Collins and Drew Eubanks as the primary backups in the frontcourt behind starters Markkanen and Walker Kessler, so it may take another injury to one of the quartet before Filipowski slots back into the rotation.

Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Returns to bench role
Filipowski will come off the bench Thursday night against the Bucks, Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Filipowski made three straight starts while Lauri Markkanen recovered from a back issue, but the rookie will return to a reserve role following Markkanen's return. Filipowski struggled to see much run in his first two appearances off the bench but logged 25 minutes as a reserve Oct. 29 against the Kings, so there's really no blueprint to help identify how many minutes he'll shoulder Thursday evening.

He totaled just nine minutes in the previous three contests, so it's unclear what the rookie's role will be moving forward, especially if Markkanen isn't sidelined long-term. However, if Markkanen is sidelined, Filipowski should have a clear path to consistent minutes.

Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Inks four-year deal
Filipowski agreed to a four-year, $12 million contract with the Jazz on Monday, Bobby Marks of ESPN.com reports.
This is a generous deal for Filipowski, who took a risk by playing in Summer League without putting pen to paper on a contract after he was selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Marks notes that this is the largest contract for a player selected in the second round of the draft in the last two years. With contract negotiations now in the rearview mirror, the big man can set his sights on earning a spot in Utah's rotation, which could prove challenging behind Taylor Hendricks (personal), Lauri Markkanen (shoulder) and John Collins (back).

Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Impresses in SL finale
Filipowski recorded 26 points (8-22 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 7-7 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Sunday's Summer League finale against the Pistons.
Filipowski impressed in Utah's final Summer League matchup, posting game-high marks in points and rebounds. After a productive showing in the Summer League, Filipowski turns his sights to the regular season. The Duke product will likely have to earn his playing time to begin the season, but he could carve out a role alongside Lauri Markkanen and Taylor Hendricks as the season progresses.

Filipowski has been a standout performer for the Jazz in Las Vegas, averaging 14.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 combined steals-plus-blocks in three games played. The seven-footer has also knocked down three of his six attempts from distance. While Filipowski is better fit to play the five, he could see most of his action in 2024-25 at the power forward spot considering the Jazz's center depth.

Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Selected by Utah
Filipowski was drafted by the Jazz with the No. 32 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Filipowski spent two years at Duke before entering the NBA Draft. As a sophomore in 2023-24, he averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 steals in 36 games. At 7-foot, Filipowski also has the ability to stretch the floor, as he converted 34.8 percent of his 3.1 three-point attempts per contest last year. While the 20-year-old big man will have to earn his playing time early on, a future frontcourt with Lauri Markkanen, Taylor Hendricks and Filipowski could offer a stout interior defense while also maintaining ideal spacing on the offensive end.
