No. 1 -- QB. Rising sophomore Brett Nottingham served as QB Andrew Luck's primary backup last season and for that reason should be considered the frontrunner. His top competition figures to be rising junior Josh Nunes, but rising junior Robbie Picazo, along with freshmen Evan Crower and Kevin Hogan will have the opportunity to compete for the job according to coach David Shaw. No. 2 -- S. With the departures of SS Delano Howell and FS Michael Thomas, both S spots are open for competition. Rising junior Devon Carrington and rising sophomore Jordan Richards saw the most extensive playing time last year, but will be pushed in the spring by Myles Muagutia, Kyle Olugbode and Ed Reynolds. No. 3 -- LT/RG. Kevin Danser is the clear favorite to replace RG David DeCastro, but the top-two candidates to start at LT in the fall might be incoming freshmen Andrus Peat and Kyle Murphy. The spring will be a good opportunity for OT Brendon Austin, who redshirted last season, to impress the coaches.
