- Boston College held its third scrimmage on Sunday. QB Chase Rettig was 18 of 32 for 168 yards. He threw two TDs and two interceptions. After RB Rolandan “Deuce” Finch hurt his foot in the last scrimmage, most of the RBs at the top of the depth chart were held out. A.J. Black of BC Interruption had a report.
- Troubled OL Seantrel Henderson doesn’t look like he’ll play in Miami’s opening game. Coach Al Golden didn’t pull any punches when discussing Henderson with Jorge Milian of the Palm Beach Post.

- The Hurricanes also updated their depth chart. Luther Robinson took a starting DT position from Darius Smith, and both WR spots are now up for grabs: Phillip Dorsett pulled even with Allen Hurns, and Kendal Thompkins is listed as a co-starter with Rashawn Scott. Freshman RB Duke Johnson moved from fourth-string to sharing the back-up spot with Eduardo Clements.
- There’s no Frank Beamer statue at Virginia Tech, and he doesn’t have a trademark like Bear Bryant’s hat. But after 26 years of success with the Hokies, Beamer has made boring the new sexy, according to Matt Crossman of the Sporting News.
- Julius Peppers released a statement admitting that the transcript that appeared on UNC’s website was his, but he denied taking any fraudulent classes to stay eligible. “I can assure everyone that there is no academic fraud as it relates to my college transcript,” Peppers said.
