Air Force vs. San Diego State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Air Force vs. San Diego State football game
The San Diego State Aztecs will head out on the road to face off against the Air Force Falcons at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Falcon Stadium. San Diego State is staggering into the game hobbled by three consecutive losses, while Air Force will skip in buoyed by nine consecutive wins.
San Diego State's game on Friday was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Boise State by a score of 34-31.
Despite the defeat, San Diego State got a solid performance out of Jalen Mayden, who threw for 241 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown. Mayden wound up with a passer rating of 179.8. Jaylon Armstead was in the mix too, providing San Diego State with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Air Force's and San Jose State's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but Air Force turned on the heat in the second half with 28 points. Everything went Air Force's way against San Jose State as Air Force made off with a 45-20 victory. Air Force was favored coming into this game, and the results showcase why.
Air Force's success was spearheaded by the efforts of John Lee Eldridge III, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, and Emmanuel Michel, who rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns. That's the first time this season that Eldridge III rushed for 100 rushing yards.
San Diego State are on a 3-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3. The win for Air Force kept them at an undefeated 4-0.
While only Air Force took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking ahead, Air Force are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 10.5 points. This contest will be their fourth straight as the favorites (a stretch that saw them go 2-2 against the spread).
San Diego State came up short against Air Force in their previous matchup last November, falling 13-3. Thankfully for San Diego State, Brad Roberts (who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
