Alabama vs. Southern Miss Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Alabama vs. Southern Miss football game
Game Recap
When you finish with 393 more yards than your opponent like the Alabama Crimson Tide did on Saturday, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They claimed a resounding 63-14 win over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at home. That result was just more of the same for the Crimson Tide, who also won the last time these teams played (Sept. 21 of 2019).
The game started off well for Bama, whose offense put up 42 first-half points. Southern Miss wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 42-7 heading into the break. The Alabama defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the matchup.
Bama's success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Bryce Young, who passed for four TDs and 313 yards on 22 attempts, and RB Roydell Williams, who rushed for one TD and 110 yards on 11 carries. Near the top of the highlight reel was Young's 81-yard TD bomb to WR Jameson Williams in the second quarter. Bama also got help from TE Jahleel Billingsley, who showed off his sure hands for 105 receiving yards in the victory.
No one had a standout game offensively for Southern Miss, but they got scores from WR Demarcus Jones and WR Chandler Pittman.
The Crimson Tide's victory brought them up to 4-0. The Golden Eagles' defeat pushed them down to 1-3.
Bama will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the Ole Miss Rebels at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Ole Miss has averaged 52.67 points over the course of their past three games, so Bama might be in for a challenge. Southern Miss will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Rice Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET next Saturday.
