App. State vs. Coastal Carolina updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Tuesday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina football game
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will head out on the road to face off against the App. State Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Coastal Carolina is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Coastal Carolina started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Georgia Southern. They fell 38-28 to the Eagles two Saturdays ago.
Coastal Carolina's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braydon Bennett, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and Sam Pinckney who picked up 132 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jared Brown also helped out as he racked up 106 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, App. State's game two Saturdays ago was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. It was a tight game that could have gone either way, but they made off with a 41-40 victory over UL Monroe. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge in the first quarter to overcome a 14-0 deficit.
App. State can attribute much of their success to Christan Horn, who picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Joey Aguilar, who threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns. That's the first time this season that Horn posted 100 or more yards. App. State also relied on Michael Hughes, whose 54-yard boot in the fourth quarter wound up being the difference in the game.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: App. State's victory pushed their record up to 3-2, while Coastal Carolina's defeat dropped theirs down to 2-3.
Coastal Carolina is hoping to beat the odds on Tuesday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.
Coastal Carolina beat App. State 35-28 in their previous matchup last November. Coastal Carolina will need to keep their eye on App. State's Chase Brice, who just threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground the last time he played. Will he have another big game against Coastal Carolina, or will the team keep him contained? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
