App. State vs. Miami of Ohio updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Appalachian State vs. Miami (OH) football game
3rd Quarter Report
App. State and Miami of Ohio have shown up to the match, but their offenses sure haven't. Sitting on a score of 13-9, App. State has looked like the better team, but there's still one more quarter to play. They took a big hit to their ego two weeks ago, so a victory here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
If App. State keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 9-5 in no time. On the other hand, Miami of Ohio will have to make due with an 11-3 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Miami of Ohio RedHawks and the App. State Mountaineers will square off in the Cure Bowl at FBC Mortgage Stadium 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. App. State is favored, but seeing as the odds didn't stop Miami of Ohio in their last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
Miami of Ohio waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Toledo by a score of 23-14.
Aveon Smith and Rashad Amos were among the main playmakers for Miami of Ohio as the former rushed for 99 yards and the latter gained 106 total yards and two touchdowns. Smith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Graham Nicholson did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and two extra points.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, App. State's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They were the victim of a painful 49-23 defeat at the hands of Troy.
App. State's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kanye Roberts, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, and Eli Wilson who punched in a rushing scores.
Miami of Ohio's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for App. State, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
