The Appalachian State Mountaineers will face off against the North Carolina Tar Heels at noon ET on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. After a 10-4 record last year and an appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl, the Mountaineers are coming in with an eye to spark another quality season. UNC was 6-7 last season and is coming off of a 56-24 victory against the Florida A&M Rattlers on Saturday.
A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Appalachian State was 15th best in the nation (top 6%) in overall offensive touchdowns, finishing the 2021 season with 55. UNC displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they ranked 20th in the nation in rushing touchdowns, closing the season with 30 overall (top 8%).
