Arizona State vs. Southern Utah updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Thursday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arizona State vs. Southern Utah football game
Game Recap
The Arizona State Sun Devils ran circles around the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Thursday, and the extra yardage (433 yards vs. 219 yards) paid off. ASU was the clear victor by a 41-14 margin over Southern Utah. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
RB Rachaad White and RB DeaMonte Trayanum were among the main playmakers for the Sun Devils as the former punched in two rushing touchdowns and the latter punched in two rushing touchdowns.
ASU's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. LB Darien Butler picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
No one had a standout game offensively for Southern Utah, but they got scores from WR Judd Cockett and RB David Moore III.
The victory improved ASU's record to 1-0. The defeat dropped the Thunderbirds' record to 0-2.
The Sun Devils will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the UNLV Rebels at 10:30 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Sun Devil Stadium, Frank Kush Field. UNLV took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse Arizona State's good fortune. Southern Utah can take some time to mend their wounds since their next game isn't for a while. They will face the Tarleton State Texans at Globe Life Park in Arlington at 7 p.m. ET in two weeks.
