Arizona State vs. Stanford updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arizona State vs. Stanford football game
Game Recap
The Arizona State Sun Devils fell to the Stanford Cardinal 20-13 when the teams previously met three seasons ago; this time around, they exacted some revenge. The Sun Devils strolled past Stanford with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-10. The team ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory.
ASU's success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Jayden Daniels, who accumulated 175 passing yards in addition to rushing for one TD and 76 yards, and RB Rachaad White, who punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 51-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the matchup. Arizona State's DB Jack Jones got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the third quarter into a touchdown.
The Sun Devils' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Cardinal's offensive line to sack QB Tanner McKee five times for a total loss of 31 yards. Leading the way was DL Tyler Johnson and his two sacks. Johnson now has three sacks this year.
WR Elijah Higgins put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught seven passes for one TD and 110 yards.
The win bumped ASU's record up to 5-1. The loss dropped the Cardinal back to even at 3-3.
ASU will square off against the Utah Utes at 10 p.m. ET next week at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Stanford will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Clarence D. Martin Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET next week. The Washington State Cougars also experienced difficulties finding the end zone in their contest last week, so look for the defenses to decide this one.
