Arizona vs. California: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arizona vs. California football game
The California Golden Bears have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. The Golden Bears and the Arizona Wildcats will face off in a Pac-12 battle at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday at Arizona Stadium. These two teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games.
The Oregon State Beavers typically have all the answers at home, but last week California proved too difficult a challenge. California took their matchup against the Beavers 39-25. California's QB Chase Garbers did his thing and passed for three TDs and 258 yards on 25 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 61 yards.
Arizona came within a touchdown against the USC Trojans last week, but they wound up with a 41-34 loss. Arizona's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Will Plummer, who accumulated 264 passing yards in addition to rushing for one TD and 31 yards, and WR Tayvian Cunningham, who caught three passes for one TD and 116 yards. That receiving effort made it the first game that Cunningham has posted more than 100 yards receiving.
The Golden Bears are the favorite in this one, with an expected 12-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 1-3 against the spread when favored.
California is now 3-5 while the Wildcats sit at 0-8. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: California is 214th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 13 on the season. Arizona has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 220th most touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 22 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
