Arizona vs. San Diego State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arizona vs. San Diego State football game
Game Recap
The San Diego State Aztecs ran circles around the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, and the extra yardage (454 yards vs. 221 yards) paid off. The Aztecs made easy work of Arizona and carried off a 38-14 win.
The San Diego State offense pulled no punches in the first half and blazed their way to 35 points. Arizona wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 35-7 heading into the break. Although San Diego State wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
QB Jordon Brookshire hadn't helped San Diego State's cause all that much against the New Mexico State Aggies last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. San Diego State's success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Greg Bell, who rushed for one TD and 125 yards on 17 carries, and Brookshire, who passed for two TDs and 183 yards on 14 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. TE Daniel Bellinger also helped out with an impressive 113 receiving yards in the victory.
The losing side was boosted by WR Stanley Berryhill III, who snatched one receiving TD. The game brought the Aztecs to 2-0 and dropped the Wildcats to a mirror-image 0-2.
San Diego State will be playing at home against the Utah Utes at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday. Unlike San Diego State, Utah will be stumbling in off of a defeat. Arizona has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at 10 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at Arizona Stadium. If the matchup is anything like Arizona's 65-41 win from their previous meeting in September of 2019, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
