Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arkansas State vs. Central Arkansas football game
Game Recap
After losing to the Central Arkansas Bears the last time they met, the Arkansas State Red Wolves decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Red Wolves took their matchup against Central Arkansas two weeks ago by a conclusive 50-27 score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Arkansas State had established a 43-13 advantage.
Arkansas State QB Logan Bonner was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 239 yards on 19 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Bonner's 56-yard TD bomb to WR Corey Rucker in the fourth quarter. On the other hand, one thorn in Arkansas State's side was the less-than-spectacular play of RB Jamal Jones, who fumbled the ball once with only 45 yards rushing.
Arkansas State's defense was a presence, as it got past Central Arkansas' offensive line to sack QB Breylin Smith four times for a loss of ten yards. Leading the way was LB Justin Rice and his three sacks. Rice now has four sacks this year.
A silver lining for Central Arkansas was the play of WR Lujuan Winningham, who caught four passes for three TDs and 93 yards.
The win got the Red Wolves back to even at 2-2. This is the second loss in a row for Central Arkansas and nudges their record down to 2-3.
Arkansas State will be hunkering down at home again for their game against the Georgia State Panthers at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 15 at Centennial Bank Stadium.
