Arkansas State vs. Louisiana updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Arkansas State vs. Louisiana football game
Arkansas State will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both teams worked hard to overcome the odds in their previous battles and are surely both feeling confident heading into this clash.
Arkansas State gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 34-24 victory over UL Monroe.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arkansas State to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zak Wallace, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Arkansas State also got help from Corey Rucker who showed off his sure hands for 160 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Louisiana was able to grind out a solid win over South Alabama on Saturday, taking the game 33-20.
Louisiana relied on the efforts of Zeon Chriss, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and Jacob Kibodi, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Kibodi was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Another reason for the win was Louisiana's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Cameron Whitfield and his 3.5 sacks.
The victory got Arkansas State back to even at 4-4. As for Louisiana, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both teams pleased both fans and bettors in their last matchups by winning and covering the spread. Going forward, Louisiana shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by nine points. For those looking to play the spread, watch out: Louisiana is expected to win, but their 1-4 record against the spread as such isn't exactly encouraging.
Arkansas State might still be hurting after the devastating 38-18 defeat they got from Louisiana when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Arkansas State have more luck at home instead of on the road?
