Army West Point vs. Connecticut updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Army West Point vs. Connecticut football game
After a three-game homestand, the Connecticut Huskies will be on the road. The Huskies and the Army West Point Black Knights will face off in an FBS Independents battle at noon ET on Saturday at Blaik Field at Michie Stadium. If the nothing to nothing final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.
It was a close one, but last week UConn sidestepped the Liberty Flames for a 36-33 win. RB Robert Burns and RB Victor Rosa were among the main playmakers for UConn as the former rushed for one TD and 104 yards on 11 carries and the latter punched in two rushing touchdowns. Burns' longest run was for 58 yards in the second quarter.
Speaking of close games: Army missed a PAT kick in the second quarter against the Troy Trojans last week, and it came back to haunt them. Army had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it as the team lost 10-9 to Troy. The Black Knights' only offensive touchdown came on a rush from QB Tyhier Tyler.
The Huskies are the clear underdogs, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 5-1 against the spread when expected to lose.
UConn is now 6-5 while Army sits at 3-6. A couple numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: UConn enters the contest having picked the ball off 12 times, good for 15th in the nation. But the Black Knights rank 10th in the nation when it comes to thrown interceptions, with only four on the season. We'll see which of these strengths -- offense or defense -- will win out.
