The Indiana Hoosiers (15-0) came into the College Football Playoff as the lone remaining unbeaten college football team and have done nothing but prove they are deserving of the top seed. IU annihilated both Alabama (38-3) and Oregon (56-22) with dominant play on both sides of the ball. The Hurricanes (13-2) barely made the field but have ridden a devastating defense to the brink of their sixth national title. 

The Hurricanes haven't won one since 2001, but the Hoosiers have never been on this stage/ Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza is a big reason they are here, and they are second-best in the nation in scoring on both offense and defense. They average 42.6 points while yielding just 11.1. UM gives up 14 points per game (fifth-fewest in FBS), but the Carson Beck-led offense scores 31.6 (31st). Monday's result is likely to hinge on whether Miami's front, led by Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor, can disrupt Mendoza, who has completed 86% of his passes over the first two playoff games.     

Both teams have looked locked in for their playoff runs, with Indiana dominating on both sides of the ball and Miami's defense wreaking havoc on opposing offenses. Indiana has the clear edge at quarterback, but UM's Carson Beck is experienced and running back Mark Fletcher has 395 rushing yards in the three playoff games. IU's Kaelon Black and Roman Hemby have 304 rushing yards combined over their two playoff matchups.
