Saturday college football betting preview

No. 12 BYU was ultimately unable to make the College Football Playoff due to a pair of blowout losses to Texas Tech, but the Cougars still have a chance to finish on a high note against No. 22 Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Cougars were the second team out of the CFP field after losing to Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game. Georgia Tech started the season with eight straight wins before losing three of its final four contests, and the Yellow Jackets are 3.5-point underdogs on Saturday. 

The Gator Bowl kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET, as No. 19 Virginia faces Missouri in Jacksonville. The Cavaliers are trying to reach 11 wins for the first time in school history after losing to unranked Duke in the ACC title game. Missouri is making its fifth straight bowl appearance under head coach Eli Drinkwitz after losing four games to ranked SEC opponents this season. The Tigers are 4-point favorites, despite quarterback Beau Pribula entering the transfer portal.

No. 21 Houston (-1.5) faces LSU in the Texas Bowl to wrap up Saturday's action at 9:15 p.m. ET. The Cougars went 9-3 in their second season under head coach Willie Fritz, and they were the only FBS team to go 6-0 in road games during the regular season.
