Boise State vs. UCLA updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Boise State vs. UCLA football game
3rd Quarter Report
Down nine at the end of the second quarter, UCLA now has the lead. They have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead Boise State 28-16. UCLA took a big hit to their ego back in November, so a victory here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
If UCLA keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 8-5 in no time. On the other hand, Boise State will have to make due with an 8-6 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Boise State Broncos and the UCLA Bruins will square off in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Boise State will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Boise State can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup two weeks ago. They blew past UNLV 44-20. The oddsmakers were on Boise State's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
Taylen Green went supernova for Boise State, rushing for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 226 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Green really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Ashton Jeanty was another key contributor, rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Boise State, adding 14 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Jonah Dalmas: he added nine points with three field goals, and another five kicking extra points. His longest was a 50-yard strike in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 38 points the game before, UCLA faltered in their contest back in November. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of a 33-7 punch to the gut against California. UCLA gained 78 more yards on the day, but it was California that made the best of use of them.
Boise State has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for UCLA, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Broncos have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Bruins struggle in that department as they've been averaging 190.8 rushing yards per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
