Boise State vs. Utah State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Boise State vs. Utah State football game
The Utah State Aggies haven't won a game against the Boise State Broncos since Oct. 16 of 2015, but they'll be looking to end the drought on Friday. Utah State and Boise State will face off in a Mountain West battle at noon ET at Albertsons Stadium. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The San Jose State Spartans typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday the Aggies proved too difficult a challenge. Utah State snuck past SJSU with a 35-31 win. Utah State's RB Calvin Tyler Jr. looked sharp as he rushed for three TDs and 125 yards on 30 carries.
Utah State's defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Spartans' offensive line to sack QB Chevan Cordeiro five times for a total loss of 24 yards. The heavy lifting was done by DT Hale Motu'apuaka and DE Daniel Grzesiak, who each racked up two sacks.
Meanwhile, things were close when the Broncos and the Wyoming Cowboys clashed this past Saturday, but Boise State ultimately edged out the opposition 20-17. Boise State's QB Taylen Green did his thing and passed for one TD and 211 yards on 34 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 47 yards.
The Aggies have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 17-point spread they are up against. The smart bettors have been the ones to keep their money on Utah State's opponents whenever they hit the road.
Utah State is now 6-5 while Boise State sits at 8-3. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Utah State enters the contest with only 196.5 passing yards allowed per game on average, good for 28th best in the nation. But Boise State is even better: they rank first in the nation when it comes to passing yards allowed per game, with only 145.4 on average. We'll see if that edge gives the Broncos a route to victory.
