Boston College vs. Texas State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Boston College vs. Texas State football game
Game Recap
The Boston College Eagles gave up the first points against the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Texas State 24-21. The overall outcome was to be expected, but the Bobcats made it more of a contest than the oddsmakers had predicted.
BC QB Phil Jurkovec was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 210 yards on 38 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 37 yards. We would be remiss not to mention K Aaron Boumerhi, too, whose 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter was the deciding factor in the matchup.
BC defense was a presence as well, as it got past Texas State offensive line to sack QB Brady McBride five times for a loss of 17 yards. Leading the way was LB Isaiah McDuffie and his two sacks. Those were the first sacks for McDuffie through Week 4.
WR Marcell Barbee hadn't helped Texas State cause all that much against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks last week, but the same can't be said for this game. The losing side was boosted by Barbee, who snatched two receiving TDs.
The win makes it two in a row for BC and bumps their record up to 2-0. The Bobcats loss pushed them down to 1-3.
The Eagles have the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the North Carolina Tar Heels at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 3 at Alumni Stadium. Texas State will have some time to rest before their next matchup, which is against the Troy Trojans at 1 p.m. ET in two weeks at Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
