DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) Billy Dozier raced 63 yards for a touchdown on Butler's first play from scrimmage and the Bulldogs never trailed, handing Davidson a 48-38 loss Saturday.

Devaon Holman returned an interception 20 yards for a score to make it 14-0 midway through the opening quarter, and after Mari Adams got Davidson on the board by capping an 11-play, 77-yard drive with a four-yard run, Reagan Andrew opened the second quarter with a five-yard run to make it 21-7.

The Wildcats got a 26-yard field goal from Adam Zoaugui with 4:29 left in the half and, two minutes later, Adams scored again with a five-yard run, but Butler's Griffin Caldwell broke for a 13-yard touchdown in the closing seconds to make it 28-17 at the break.

Ryan Short kicked field goals from 26- and 31-yards out and Andrew capped the Bulldogs offensive day with a 41-yard touchdown run with two minutes left.

Andrew threw for 112 yards and an interception for Butler (6-2, 2-2 Pioneer Football League) but ran for 98 yards on 13 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns. Luke Wooten had four catches for 100 yards.

Luke Durkin threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Davidson (5-3, 3-2). Adam Frazier threw for 80 yards and a touchdown but had two interceptions. Adams carried 18 times for 103 yards and two scores and Brody Reina caught five passes for 118 yards and a score.
