Checking in on Auburn's fall camp as it prepares for the season opener against Clemson on Sept. 1:

No answers in QB battle: The QB battle continues into the second week of camp at Auburn. Junior Clint Moseley and sophomore Kiehl Frazier are still the top two contenders.

The two bring contrasting styles to the Tigers’ offense. Frazier is a dual-threat QB who did more running than throwing in his limited action in 2011. Moseley is a more traditional drop-back QB who started five games last season. Coach Gene Chizik isn’t as concerned as much about their style as he is their ability to direct the offense.

“When you’re looking at the quarterback position, you’re always looking for a guy that takes command of the huddle, is never rattled by circumstances and executes everything with a lot of poise and confidence,” he told the Montgomery Adviser. “That’s what we’re looking for -- a guy that can protect the ball, move the football team and not put the ball in jeopardy.”

Moseley is not only battling Frazier, but also a sore shoulder. He recently had an MRI come back negative for damage in the shoulder, but admitted to the Auburn Plainsman that he has been playing through pain.

"It was hurting, but I knew I could throw through the pain today," Moseley said. "It’s probably as frustrating as you can imagine."

RB Jovon Robinson sitting: The Tigers’ impressive freshman RB is being held out of practice while the NCAA investigates his eligibility.

Robinson was emerging in camp as a possible complimentary back to projected starter RB Onterio McCalebb. Robinson is the biggest back on the roster at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds. He was a consensus four-star recruit coming out of Wooddale (Tenn.) High.

TE Philip Lutzenkirchen a fan favorite: The senior TE might be the most popular player on the team heading into 2012. He is a hit on Twitter with close to 30,000 followers and TEs coach Jay Boulware said he always hears the crowed roar for ‘Lutz’ more than any other player.

"I've never heard a tight end get the biggest cheer in the stadium until last year,'' he told SI.com. "It was Lutz, every time. I was teasing him in the meeting about that (Friday). I said, `You guys should hear when they announce the starting lineup and they say Lutz's name. It is the biggest cheer on our football team, by far.'”

Lutzenkirchen has 44 career receptions for 489 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is perhaps best known for his huge catch against Alabama in 2010 (that inspired this video) and this amazing play he made in high school.
