Central Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Central Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan football game
The Eastern Michigan Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Central Michigan Chippewas at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Eastern Michigan is expected to lose this one by eight points, so we'll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
Saturday was a slow day for Eastern Michigan as the team failed to score. They suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Jacksonville State. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Eagles weren't very productive on the ground and finished the game with only 57 rushing yards. They were demolished by their opponents in that department as Jacksonville State rushed for 295.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Central Michigan, as they earned their first road win of the season. They snuck past South Alabama with a 34-30 victory on Saturday. The victory represents a nice turnaround for Central Michigan, who in their previous game suffered a tough 41-17 loss.
Jase Bauer went supernova for Central Michigan, throwing for 224 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 55 yards and four touchdowns. Jesse Prewitt III also helped out with an impressive 142 receiving yards.
With Eastern Michigan's defeat and Central Michigan's win, both teams now sport identical 2-2 records.
Looking ahead, Central Michigan is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by eight points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Central Michigan's opponent in mind: they have a solid 4-1 record against the spread vs Eastern Michigan over their last five matchups.
Eastern Michigan steamrolled past Central Michigan in their previous matchup last November by a score of 38-19. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Central Michigan's Bert Emanuel Jr., who rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Eastern Michigan still be able to contain him? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
