Charlotte vs. Georgia State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Charlotte vs. Georgia State football game
Georgia State haven't yet left their home-field this season, but they'll have to hit the road on Saturday. They will take on the Charlotte 49ers at 6:00 p.m. ET at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Georgia State will be strutting in after a win while Charlotte will be stumbling in from a loss.
Last Saturday, Georgia State made easy work of UConn and carried off a 35-14 victory. With Georgia State ahead 21-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Georgia State can attribute much of their success to RB Marcus Carroll, who rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns, and QB Darren Grainger, who threw for 144 yards and a touchdown, in addition to 142 yards on the ground and a rushing score. Grainger's touchdown was no short dash either: it was a 65 yard sprint in the first quarter. WR Robert Lewis also helped out by posting a receiving touchdown.
Meanwhile, Charlotte ended up a good deal behind Maryland on Saturday and lost 38-20.
The losing side was boosted by Jairus Mack, who finished with 106 total yards and a touchdown. Mack's got a big chunk of his yards on one 48-yard play.
Looking ahead, Georgia State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 7.5 points. They finished last season with an even 6-6 record against the spread.
Georgia State and Charlotte were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup last September, but Georgia State came up empty-handed after a 42-41 loss. Can Georgia State avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
