The Memphis Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Charlotte 49ers at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jerry Richardson Stadium. Memphis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Charlotte likes a good challenge.
Even though South Florida scored an imposing 50 points on Saturday, Memphis still came out on top. Memphis walked away with a 59-50 victory over South Florida. With that win, Memphis brought their scoring average up to 39.2 points per game.
Seth Henigan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 349 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Roc Taylor did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 159 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Charlotte ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Tulsa by a score of 33-26. The win was all the more spectacular given Charlotte was down 17 points with 11:50 left in the second quarter.
Charlotte can attribute much of their success to Trexler Ivey, who threw for 277 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a rushing scores. Kyle Cunanan did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and two extra points.
Memphis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Charlotte, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Looking forward, Memphis shouldn't be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by 12 points. They are a gamble against the spread as they sit with a 2-6-1 ATS record.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: The Tigers haven't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 39.2 points per game. It's a different story for the 49ers , though, as they've been averaging only 16.6 per game. The only thing between Memphis and another offensive beatdown is Charlotte.
