Cincinnati vs. Memphis updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Cincinnati vs. Memphis football game
Game Recap
The Memphis Tigers came into their matchup this week averaging 38.75 points per game, but they fell well short of that average, and it cost them. They were dealt a punishing 49-10 loss at the hands of the Cincinnati Bearcats Saturday. That's the fewest points the Tigers have scored all year.
Cincinnati's QB Desmond Ridder was on fire, passing for three TDs and 271 yards on 26 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 41 yards. RB Jerome Ford was in the mix, too, providing Cincinnati with two touchdowns.
The Bearcats' defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Memphis' offensive line to sack QB Brady White six times. It was a group effort with five picking up 1.5 sacks apiece.
A silver lining for Memphis was the play of WR Tahj Washington, who caught two passes for one TD and 104 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Washington's 92-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
The defeat dropped Memphis' record to 3-2. The win for the Bearcats kept them a perfect 5-0.
The Tigers will take on the South Florida Bulls at noon ET next week at home. Memphis will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a South Florida defense that has allowed 35 points per game on average. Cincinnati will play host again and welcome the Houston Cougars to Nippert Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET next week. Cincinnati will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
