Clemson vs. Citadel Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game

Game Recap

The Clemson Tigers got themselves on the board against the Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday, but Citadel never followed suit. Clemson claimed a resounding 49 to nothing victory over the Bulldogs at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 49 to nothing advantage.

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 168 yards on nine attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Near the top of the highlight reel was Lawrence's 54-yard TD bomb to WR Frank Ladson Jr. in the second quarter. Clemson received some extra help from LB James Skalski, whose 17-yard fumble return for touchdown in the first quarter made for one of the game's most unforgettable moments.

Clemson's defense was a presence as well, as it got past Citadel's offensive line to sack the quarterback four times. It was a group effort with five picking up one sack apiece.

The win makes it two in a row for the Tigers and bumps their record up to 2-0. This is the second loss in a row for the Bulldogs and nudges their record down to 0-2.

Clemson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off; they will square off against the Virginia Cavaliers at Memorial Stadium at noon ET in two weeks. Citadel looks to take advantage of their home turf advantage next Saturday as they take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at Johnson Hagood Stadium at 1 p.m. ET. Eastern Kentucky is hoping for a better outcome this contest after a 56-10 loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers.
