Clemson vs. North Carolina updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

1st Quarter Report

North Carolina is on the board, but we're still waiting on Clemson to respond. Sitting on a score of 7-0, North Carolina has looked like the better team, but there's still three more quarters to play.

North Carolina came into the contest with some extra motivation after the defeat they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.

Preview

North Carolina has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Clemson Tigers at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Duke scored an imposing 45 points on Saturday, North Carolina still came out on top. North Carolina narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Duke 47-45.

Drake Maye and Omarion Hampton were among the main playmakers for North Carolina as the former threw for 342 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown. Hampton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Noah Burnette did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in six field goals and three extra points.

North Carolina was down by zero with only zero seconds left when they drove 27 yards for the winning score. Maye punched in the touchdown from 5 yards out.

Meanwhile, Clemson put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over Georgia Tech. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clemson.

Cade Klubnik looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 205 yards and four touchdowns. Will Shipley was another key contributor, gaining 107 total yards and a touchdown.

North Carolina's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Clemson, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.

North Carolina is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. This will be their first time playing as the underdogs this season.

North Carolina took a serious blow against Clemson in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 39-10. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clemson's Klubnik, who threw for 279 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Now that North Carolina knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
