Coastal Carolina vs. Georgia State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Coastal Carolina vs. Georgia State football game
The Georgia State Panthers are staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at 2 p.m. ET Nov. 13 at Brooks Stadium. Coastal Carolina will be strutting in after a victory while the Panthers will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Georgia State was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as they fell 21-17 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. A silver lining for Georgia State was the play of RB Tucker Gregg, who punched in one rushing touchdown.
Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina had enough points to win and then some against the Georgia Southern Eagles last week, taking their contest 28-8. The squad ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. Coastal Carolina can attribute much of their success to RB Shermari Jones, who punched in one rushing touchdown, and QB Bryce Carpenter, who passed for one TD and 85 yards on 20 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 44 yards.
The Chanticleers' defense was a presence as well, as it got past Georgia Southern's offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 25 yards. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut DT Josaiah Stewart. Stewart now has 9.5 sacks this season.
The Panthers have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 10.50 point spread they are up against. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Georgia State is now 4-5 while Coastal Carolina sits at 8-1. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Georgia State is 205th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 17 on the season. Coastal Carolina has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 166th most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 12 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
