Every week, Maxwell Award winner, Heisman Trophy finalist, former NFL starting quarterback and CBS Sports analyst Brady Quinn will be here offering his picks on some of the closest, most-competitive college football games.

We have already seen some surprises, but you can set your mind at ease this weekend with these straight-up winners.

Last week: 2-1 | Season: 14-12

Texas as Texas Tech: A big win for Tech last week vs. TCU in a low-scoring game was a surprise to most, especially since it went into double overtime. Probably an ever bigger surprise was Texas beating former top-10 ranked Baylor and the Longhorns' running game amassing more than 250 yards on the ground against the top defense in the Big 12. Texas will utilize a similar strategy vs. a Tech defense that has struggled all year long to stop opponents. Tech essentially has to win every game by a shootout and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has to play near perfection Not to mention that Mahomes has been banged up this season playing through injuries. An early start in Lubbock won't be the same type of atmosphere that the Red Raiders are used to. I like the Longhorns to win in a physically dominating performance over a Tech team that has struggled with early kickoffs this season. Pick: Texas

SportsLine ATS projection: Texas (-3) -- Analysis

Pittsburgh at Miami: Both teams are coming off close losses last week. Miami got off to a slow start once again, only to climb back into the game in South Bend but fail to find a way to protect QB Brad Kaaya down the stretch. Pitt lost a close game to Virginia Tech, which appears to be at the top of the ACC Coastal. That shouldn't deter from the fact that the Panthers have to this point had a solid season. They've lost three games by a combined 11 points to top-25 ranked opponents. UM is down and has a ton of issues on the offensive side of the football. Kaaya looks like a shell of himself from a year ago, and the Canes fail to consistently rely on the run game. The Miami crowd will most likely be at the beach for this 12:30 p.m. kick. Pick: Pitt

No. 18 Oklahoma State at Kansas State: The Pokes are coming off a big upset in the Big 12 after handing West Virginia its first loss of the season. Oklahoma State capitalized off three turnovers, turning them into 17 points, which ended up being the difference in the game. Kansas State is a much more disciplined football team, which will not make these sorts of mistakes. The biggest issue will be whether the Wildcats can match up with the dynamic pass catchers for the Cowboys. Wideout James Washington is averaging 20 yards a catch and when teams decide to shut him down, Pokes slot WR Jalen McCleskey steps up and takes over. Not to mention true freshman running back Justice Hill, who's on pace for 1,000 yards this season. Kansas State is giving three points in this one. Pick: Oklahoma State
