STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Roland Dempster ran for 160 and three touchdowns and Stony Brook built a 23-0 lead by intermission and rolled to a 37-10 win over Stonehill in its home opener Saturday.

The Seawolves bounced back from a 45-3 loss to Marshall in their season-opener a week ago. It was the third meeting between the schools and first since 1990.

Freshman Malachi Marshall was named the starter during the week and he went 9 for 16 for 161 yards and a touchdown and did not throw an interception. Dempster, who was held to 37 yards against the Thundering Herd, averaged 8.4 yards per carry against the Skyhawks and scoring on runs of 17 and 15 yards in the first quarter and adding a 3-yard run in the third.

Sebastian Regis scooped up an Ashur Carraha fumble and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown to cap the Seawolves' scoring.

Carraha completed 18 of his 36 pass attempts, one for a touchdown, but threw two interceptions in addition to his third-quarter fumble.
